Anita Bernice Labertew, 78, of Ocean View, died Feb. 21, 2021, at Kona Community Hospital. Born Sept. 21, 1942, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, she was a retail clerk.

She is survived by her brothers, Jim Labertew of Goleta, CA, Ken Labertew of Seattle, and Chuck Labertew of Kent, WA; sisters, Joan McFarland of Huntsville, AR, and Nan Labertew of Spokane, WA; and many nieces, nephews and grandchildren.

Donald Maeda
Donald Mitsuru Maeda, 90, of Hilo, died March 17, 2021, at his residence. Born in Hilo, he was a retired U.S. Army sergeant major and veteran of both the Korean and Vietnam wars.

He is survived by sons, Dennis (Punett) Maeda, Dwight Maeda and Douglas Maeda of Hilo, and Darrel Maeda of Seattle; sisters, Iris Oda and Itoe (Albert) Helliangao of Hilo; brother, Richard Maeda of Hilo; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dorothy Jean Urbic, 73, of Waimea, died April 2, 2021, at her residence. She was born Nov. 6, 1947 in Ohio.

Elvira Publico
Elvira Evalani Publico, 70, of Hilo, died March 22, 2021, at Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center in Hilo. Born Oct. 14, 1950, in Laupahoehoe, she was employed as a senior accounting clerk at the former Hilo Coast Processing Co. and as a clerk at the County of Hawaii Department of Motor Vehicles.
Friends may call at 9:30 a.m. April 16 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel in Hilo for a 10:30 a.m. service. Burial will follow at noon at the Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 1 in Hilo. Casual attire is requested.
She is survived by son, Scott (Shanna Satomba) Publico of Hilo; brother, Lionel (Carol) Meyer of Hilo; sister, Karen (Darrell) Meyer of Pepeekeo; two grandchildren; and numerous uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces and cousins.

Lambert Hiram
Lambert “Buddy” Keonaona Hiram, 74, of Jackson, MI, died March 13, 2021. Born Feb. 6, 1947, in Kahuku, Oahu, he was a sports coach, educator, administrator and principal with Jackson Public Schools and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
